Yesterday we had the founder showed up to our restaurant unfortunately at the same time I had to be there. while we were expecting them to be there early they ended up coming during dinner shift so you can imagine how that played out. Luckily, I had really good customers who spoke highly of me and the founder was from what I can tell trying to find a way to approach me. As a taller dude, I could tell he felt uneasy about approaching me. Overall, he’s a nice guy and didn’t seem to “stuffy”. However, of course, he kept hovering over my group of people that I was taking care of who kept speaking highly of me, which only led him to continue to hover while I had to take care of groups of other people, it was just completely unnerving and uncomfortable after a period of time and while I cant explain that to the rest of my customers I had to also try to be mindful of my face. (I kinda get focus face when it gets busy and sometimes it comes off as if i’m annoyed). The founder then proceeds to, as I’m taking care of guest, mind you, give me his card and say “ whatever they want it’s on me”. It kept happening and I got so annoyed. Think he was surprised I wasnt fan-irling over him, everyone else was getting pictures with him, and I was just ready for him to go.
Everyone wanted to take pictures with him and I unfortunately did not. Now I find myself second-guessing it and wondering if I missed out on a possible opportunity.
