I wish restaurants would go back to the traditional way of cash payouts.
I’m loosing so much money paying taxes on my tips and then you still have to tip out your support staff.
That 3% of my tips every shift really adds the hell up over 9-10 or more shifts.
I’ve always been a top seller at every spot I’ve worked but the cash I was making made up for that $40-$90 per shift I was loosing. I’m losing about $750-$800 dollars per check then paying taxes on earnings AFTER tip out.
I feel like I’m getting fucked !! the harder I work the more I lose. Both tips and taxes and I’m not even in a top tier price point the average ticket is about $100 at my spot; however I do turn and burn and I do a lot of the private events and always have one of the two largest tables in the restaurant in my section.
I’m just ranting about the cash days but I’m starting to feel like it may be time to start looking for another career path. Serving used to be good, quick money compared to a lot of other professions.
I’m sure it still can be but I’m past dealing with unruly guest on a consistent basis.
Ok I’m done ranting.
Also if you’re in Dallas and know a nice spot that’s still pays cash let me know !
