Hi yall, I know the title may seem pretty benign but I was wondering if yall could weight in your opinions etc.
Backstory: The bartender at my restaurant is a grumpy older white man, I am a 20 year old new asian server that started a couple months ago and from the get go he seemed to not like me. I try to create conversation and always thank him for drinks etc. I feel I am quite respectful.
Last night after asking him where a beer was which was not up front in the usual spot, he said its there you “Blind Fuck” multiple times. I didn't respond because I really didn't know what to say. I went back to my table and did some other things and eventually went back to the bar, I asked him to please not curse at me and to treat me respectfully as I did to him. He proceeds to say “your just a blind fuck” and gets into my face when I ask him to please stop cursing. I really didn't want to escalate the situation to I just asked him to please stop cursing and be respectfully because I have only treated him with respect and dignity. The manager saw and just separated the two of us, I continued with my work and the night ended. The manager caught me later and said to just forget about it, and that the bartender is just a old man who butts heads with younger folks.
I worked as a cook in a restaurant for 3 years before starting to serve so I know what type of talk is generally acceptable etc. etc. but last night I was sorta shaking after the encounter and I dont know what to do when I show up today for work.
Please add any comments or insight. If I am in the wrong please tell me, thanks for reading lol
