I know that this isn’t a makeup subreddit. But I like everyone in this subreddit and wanted to ask you all instead 😅. I’m having lots of trouble with my makeup. I’m 23 and I started learning how to do makeup on my 20th birthday and I’m still terrible at it. Not as bad when I first started but it’s still not nice enough to go out in public with it so I don’t. I use a skin tint and it’s my EXACT shade. Im a cool undertone by the way. I would say the my skin shade is similar to Nia Long. Anyways, so I’ve tried using a concealer that is one shade lighter and I always look ridiculous. I would have concealer flashback without even taking a photo ðŸ˜. I’ve tried different types of concealer brands too. I ended up buying a concealer that’s my exact skin tone so I put that one first and use a little bit of the lighter concealer. Then I use the Saie beauty bronzer and blush. My sister always says that my makeup looks like I was standing in the sun for too long. I also use the Sephora microsmooth powder too if that helps. But I just don’t know what I’m doing. The black girls on makeup tutorials always use a REALLY light shade of concealer and look good, but if I use a shade lighter I look crazy. Plus the rest of my makeup looks extremely warm aswell.
Btw I wanna list the products I use but I don’t know if I’ll get in trouble cause not everything is from Sephora.
i just started using makeup this month! for real, because ive never had money to buy it before
Im still not used to it and its honestly not really good, but it's okay! It's a lot of trial and error. It could be because you're not used to how it looks on you too. I do mine and just go out even if i think it looks bad. I go around asking people what they think haha. I just started uni so it's a good way for me to start talking to people too.
I dont think a certain product is gonna magicallt help you. But what I think helped me was that I got the best rated brushes in the sephora app. My base products are on the higher end, but my lips and eyes products are just drugstore. If you cant figure out your undertone, just look at the shade of your foundation, it usually says what the undertone of that shade is on the description. That's what I did.
