Hello-
I am interested in starting semaglutide and have some questions about eligibility based on BMI/chronic conditions.
I have a BMI of about 27.5 right now, but most info online says that people with a BMI from 27-29.9 only qualify if they are experiencing an additional weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, cholesterol or diabetes. I currently don’t have any of these commonly listed conditions.
I have experienced over a decade of binge/restrict cycling, and really want to explore the medication as a supplement to therapy in order to combat my food obsession (aka “noise”) and drop to a healthier weight. Will a formal diagnosis of BED qualify me as a candidate for semiglutide?
Also, has anyone with a binge-restrict eating disorder found success on these meds? I know it’s generally good for preventing bingeing, but the scope of my disorder is a bit more nuanced. Do you feel like it evened you out, or did the pendulum swing too far into the restriction side? Would love anecdotes from others who were in the same boat. Thx :)
