Howdy Everyone. About 5 years back I had a full Secret that was due for reinvestigation in 2026 if I recall correctly. I haven’t used my clearance in the last 2 years so I know it’s not active. However, I have had a few life changes. First I lost my job and we took a disabled vet that fell on hard times and his kids. As such we had our rental house and our house go into foreclosure but it was never completed and both were sold with paid in full in 2021. Also… I and my wife are polyamorous. I have a lovely post on AITA if your curious on it. But since being disowned from my family we don’t care and are very open about it. I make zero attempts to conceal and it can’t be used against me obviously. I work for a very large cloud services provider. They learned that I had a previous S clearance when I was a DoD contractor. I was asked to consider applying for a change in my job role that would have me apply for a Secret and potentially a TS (unsure if SCI/SAP).
Financially our finances are green. Career change and pay are extremely well. Haven’t had late payments since early Feb 21. Nothing but a medical collection in progress that I am addressing since getting the notice. I know my financial may look a little concerning but it’s the late payments that are still aging out and all but a credit card debt that was settled for less than owed reporting. My concern though and my question is the polyamory side. I have an additional partner that is not my wife. My wife obviously knows this and I am very public with that information (people at work know, former coworkers, friends, my in laws, and my family). I remember my FSO and the USAF security manager for my old job warned me about clearances getting denied if you are even a contractor and breaking the USCMJ. Which the USCMJ does have laws against the adultery (article 134 I believe).
Can this stop me from a clearance? I don’t want to waste the time and money honestly. Obviously I am not going to lie about it. Thoughts?
