TP-Link Tapo SolarCam C402 vs. Blink
Post Body

Does anyone have any information on the Tapo SolarCam C402? I’ve had Blink now for a few years and they’re OK. But lately it seems like the notifications take forever to come in. When I get an alert on my phone and I try to go see it it doesn’t load and it takes one to two minutes to finally come in. During that time who knows what is going on or if things are getting worse. Another thing I don’t like about Blink is that I’m changing the batteries every 3 to 4 months. I pay $100 a year for their subscription service.

I did a little research on the SolarCam C402. To start out the subscription cost for the year is much cheaper at $35. I also like the fact that the battery runs on solar power, which is nice. But what happens on those cloudy rainy days? Does the battery die during the day you have to recharge it? I’m not sure about the notifications but anybody with any experience with this camera know if the notifications come in quickly and you could see your clip right away? That’s probably my biggest reason I’m leaving Blink. I read that it has an alarm system, which is pretty cool to add to the features. But there was a little debate on the picture quality. People were saying that it doesn’t really one at 1080p. That makes me wonder if the picture quality on Blink is better. I have about a month to make the move if anybody has any experience with this camera can you please fill me in? Thank you.
