Audio Recording (legal use case)
Post Body

Hi all - asked this in a couple other forums and have not found an off the shelf solution, thinking there may not be any? Any pointers or possible directions are very welcome, especially experience with meeting room audio streaming or video production gear that might meet the requirements.

Requirements:

  • clear audio recording out to at least 5 meter range (this is critical and by far the hardest of the requirements to meet)
  • easily concealed ("pot" mics put in plants on film/tv sets, for example)
  • wifi connection, stream to cloud (no local DVR)
  • capability to be wired in (or very long life battery pack, at least)
  • turnkey so a non-technical user can install and start using
  • no visual recording are needed at this point

I am helping a friend in a situation where they are facing threats at home, and are looking to record the audio of interactions to help with a restraining order. It's a 1 party consent state and we believe this use case is legal (enough).

The closest I've found are microphones meant to work in conjunction with cameras in a wired (rca connector) install connected to a DVR. Other solutions are either mics designed for film/tv (but those seem very non-turnkey for this use case), RCA audio to wifi point-to-point streaming connectors (again, very not turnkey and I can not help with the install). --thx!
