I'm a hobby wood worker, and I've been noticing cut wood/trees/lumber randomly in parks and trails. For some reason the city doesn't pick it up and it just stays there. Since most are out of the way, they would just rot if left there, serving no real purpose (except maaaaybe extra nutrients in the case that they're in forests which is why I wanted to ask). Who can I talk to about picking up some of these logs? Some are literally in the middle of a field, so I imagine they'll eventually be moved but haven't been. Are they free for the taking?
Edit: y'all I'm perfectly aware of potential negative environmental consequences of taken fallen trees out of the forest or stealing literal path markers like some people think I'm doing.... sorry for getting triggered at people who think I'm actually trying to do these things?
