Duwamish Tribal Chair Cecile Hansen has, for decades tried to get Seattle's Mayors to formally meet with her in order to ask that the city formally recognize the tribe. They have continually ignored these requests.

As we approach Thanksgiving, if you would like to show thanks to the Duwamish Tribe this year, consider contacting the Mayor's office (Phone: (206) 684-4000 Email: [email protected]) and ask why the Mayor refuses to meet with the Chairwoman.

And if you have not heard about the Real Rent Duwamish project, they recently just passed 10,000 people who are donating to the tribe since they get no funding from any other sources. They are hoping to get to !0,500 by the end of the year. If you would consider donating $5 per month it would go a long way in supporting the tribe and their efforts.
