For a backstory, I moved to JBLM the beginning of 2022 and planned to stay here when I got out of the military. I have a job lined up to start in Renton. I live in downtown Tacoma and would like to move closer to if not in Renton.

It seems that every apartment I look at is grossly overpriced. If something’s somewhat affordable, every other review on the complex mentions property crime or car theft. I definitely don’t want to buy with the way things are right now. I’m leaning towards leaving Washington. It sucks, I would visit Washington off and on between 2013 - 2017 and I loved this place, and was excited to move out here when I got orders. Now I kind of hate it this place.

I don’t know all the areas around Renton. Is there anywhere that’s somewhat affordable? Not $2400 for a one bedroom after amenities or having to worry whether or not my car will be outside in the morning. I’ve been looking in SeaTac, Renton, Tukwilla, Burien, Maple Valley and it’s been fruitless.
