Where to go fishin'...?

Hey all,
Husband and I are looking to do some fishing, low key style for a day trip. Anyone have good suggestions from experience?
Here's what we are after:
- Somewhere away from the city (lowland if possible) within 60-90min
- No boat needed (just poles, some bait, and a packed lunch)
- Obviously...there's fish biting
Any suggestions?
