We've refreshed the CSS of /r/Seattle to now use /r/Naut as a base theme.
Constructive feedback is welcome, as well as any contributions you would like to make to the CSS, which is available on GitHub
Why the Change?
18 months ago, I was invited to be a CSS mod for /r/Seattle. The April Fool's day swap with /r/Portland provided a segue for me to rollout the changes, which, for better or for worse, was met with mixed feedback.
The biggest takeaways seemed to be too much flashiness, too much boxiness, and a more use of whitespace. Unfortunately, reddit doesnt let me control the actual structure of the page, so I hope I've addressed the community's concerns with the boxiness and flashiness.
Contributing
Since /r/Seattle is a community, I'd like to solicit community input to the CSS style. The /r/Naut base CSS and all the customizations we have made to it are available on GitHub, for easy inspection and hacking.
Also, I would like to rotate out the header image every so often, perhaps even by current events in Seattle. If you have any suggestions, please send me a PM with a link to your image. The dimensions are 1920 x 160.
