They were wrong about it being the National Guard - they report to the Governor.
As you, and everyone not in a coma for Trump's first term, know, the Feds use ICE / boarder patrol to round people up, and attempt to tell the local police what their job is. Remember all the right-wing pants-shitting over 'sanctuary' cities? (i.e. cities that said we set our own policing priorities)
Reminder: Board Patrol thinks their authority is something like 50-100 miles from any boarder... and airports count as boarders, so... like 90% of the population centers.
