I've been looking around online, but I'm not seeing anything official that specifically refers to lease buyout fees. I've seen a couple things that imply a lease buyout is two months of rent, but I'm unsure if there are actual laws about it, or if that's just the typical amount.
I'm in a terrible apartment that I can't figure out how to escape, and the buyout fee is over $5,000, which is more like three and a half months rent. That's definitely way more than I could afford at once to get out of here and seems like it may be significantly higher than usual, so I'm curious if there are any regulations regarding lease buyouts in Seattle.
If anyone has knowledge regarding this, please let me know! I don't think that nicely asking my crappy property manager to let me out is going to go over the way I'd like it to, so a lease buyout is currently seemingly like my only reliable option.
