So friend of mine is a fresh PL and I figured, lets do the veil mission for their first Athena experience! Much better than the runs of thieves haven I had to do when I first dinged.

Everything's going fine, we steamroll through to the final event, the level 3 reaper we saw earlier on the map has vanished so I guess they've logged off for the night. Awesome!

The fort falls, we pick up the loot, we start to sail towards the nearest outpost and hang on a second that's not a skelly galley that's OH GOD!

We have a narrow miss with the player galley where they fire around 15 chainshot and miss every single one. We turn in to the wind to get some distance and consider our options. We figure we either be petty and red sea it, since that's the direction in to the wind will take us, or we try to cut East and lose them in the roar. Maybe have one of us ditch in the rowboat while we're behind an island with the treasure and try to hide.

We're heading East, just passing Devil's Ridge to our North, the galley is following but they're significantly farther North than we are and a fair bit behind. There's also a random sloop that has joined in.

It looked like we might actually make it when suddenly ominous music, ocean turns black. You have GOT to be kidding me.

Kraken wraps us up, desperately try to break free, while distracted the galley manages to cannon someone on to us who adds to the chaos with blunderbombs and sets us on fire. Between him and the tentacled bastard our ship goes down and we lose it.

Thankfully we'd made a stop between doing the first portions and starting the fort fight so we only lost the last batch of loot but still.

We would have got away with it too if it hadn't been for that MEDDLING KRAKEN!
