[Help an answer] Do we as sculptors ACTUALLY have the same social-glue that, say, musicians have?

Post Body

I've been chatting about this with friends, and it's a pretty interesting question.

you know how we have communities in other art forms, that - within those community niches - connect people? for instance, within music there are music genres, and people flock together under different banners, like metal or hardstyle or jazz*, as listeners and as creators.*

QUESTION: as sculptors, do we have the same? is it truly a split between the materials we use? [marble/clay/etc]?
or would it be more to do with, like, process?
or is it what we represent with our work that connects us more quickly to likeminded sculptors?
because sculpture doesn't seem to have as clear an answer as, for instance, music.

tl;dr: what sub-categories connect the artists of the sculpture world together, socially?
