When does Dr. Cox study or research?

Post Body

All the other doctors are shown to study but Dr. Cox seems to basically know everything about medicine but doesn't seem like the kind of person who'd spend his free time reading or going to seminars.

Medicine is constantly evolving I'd guess his knowledge from his days med school/intern/residency would be outdated quickly. And I can't see him designing curriculums as residency director or other teaching roles he has.

Feel like he'd be more realistic as a surgeon. Cocky, competitive, physical, etc. He seems more of a learn by doing guy than an academic.
