Her is one of the best movies I've ever seen. When I read that he wrote the first draft in 5 months it being the first screenplay he'd ever written by himself... I was in disbelief (in a good way). I'm familiar with a lot of his Jackass & music video work. He's been creating cool stuff for years, but he hadn't written a lot of screenplays. I've been told good screenwriters become good after YEARS of writing screenplays.
TLDR: Can someone be born a talented screenwriter? Or did his skills as a director translate well enough to help him write an awesome screenplay?
