i do screenwriting as a hobby (can't be my main focus cause i have my gcse exams next year), but i enjoy writing and i think it'd be handy to have a couple of scripts ready for if i decide to pursue it. which of the following list sound like the best idea?
- four teenagers (aged 14-17) all lead drastically different lives (one wealthy, one working class, one ignorant and insensitive and the last one is superficial and shallow), but end up fighting to save themselves - and each other - against one powerful, supernatural force.
the teenagers connection is that they are all, in one way or another, bad people.the supernatural creature is sent to earth every 100 years to rid the world of three bad people and to scare others into being good. the world they live in is familiar with and frightened of the demon.
the people are never chosen / selected - the creature can just tell who is good and who is bad by somebodies aura. the teenagers have to fight in this alone - their families and friends too afraid to help them; after all, everyone had been frightened into being good people because of stories that'd be passed down from generation to generation.
coming-of-age, adventure (i came up with this idea while listening to a variety of famous compositions and couldn't help but imagine people trying to escape something. i fleshed it out from there.).
- a psychological horror of a broken family that refuse to fall apart.
family consists of a father, who is emotionally distant from his children with a short temper towards everyone in the family, a mother, who is overbearing to the point of manipulation in order for her children and husband to stay with her, a son, who is snide in his remarks and incredibly critical of everyone and everything - the type of person to play devils advocate to trump, and a daughter, who is overlooked by her parents and bullied by her brother - she has recognised the patterns in her families motives and response.
of course, they'd all have good qualities (no one is entirely bad), but the qualities i mentioned would be their main, negative ones. by the end of the movie, we hear a call to 911, as their neighbours (a picture perfect american family) scream about three dead bodies that have been left on their front lawn.
- by day, she's a beloved member of her community - a well known detective who is always helping others. by night, she's the murderer she's been trying to stop.
after all, who would suspect that someone so adored, so kind, so intelligent, would be a mass murderer? only a few would pick up on some slightly odd behaviour, but they'd mysteriously leave town without warning. takes place in a tight-knight community, where everyone knows everyone. drama.
- three teenage girls (aged 15-16) are as close as close could be. at least, to people who look from the outside in.
the group consists of charismatic and charming rose, emotionally intelligent and accepting alexandria and the wealthy, unsuspecting tiffany.
tiffany grows jealous of roses and alexandrias close friendship, as she (tiff) has known alexandria longer than rose has and feels like she 'deserves' to be closer to alex. so tiffany decides to prank rose by paying rose's older brother, unemployed 22 year old owen, to act as her stalker.
what originally started as a prank grows into tiffany's obsession - seeing her friend spiral, trying to help her and texting owen new instructions, the instructions becoming more and more severe.
when owen comes clean to his sister, rose brings the girls to the nearby forest (that is established early on as somewhere the girls spend their time) to confront tiffany. tiffany, who knows that owen has come clean (he texts tiffany and tells her that he won't be doing this any longer), brings her fathers gun in case things get messy. they do - rose and tiffany get in a fight, and tiffany shoots rose.
alexandria tries to get the gun off tiffany, but when she is threatened by her childhood friend, they flee together. tiffany ends up framing alexandria, using her fingerprints as evidence (tiffany wore gloves and burned them after shooting rose) among other things. drama, mystery (first half)
any advice / answers would be appreciated :D
edit - grammar, spelling, broken up into easy to read paragraphs
