Scream 7 theories

I've been doing some thinking on what Scream 7 could be about and I decided to share my thoughts on some possibilities of the 7th film from the legendary franchsie. I'm mainly doing this not be predict it but just to have some fun speculating on the film could be about. Let me know what yall think!

  1. Mrs. Carpenter helped Billy back in 1996

She helped Billy back in 1996 over jealousy that he was dating Sid and not her. What if she was aware of Roman and she later reconnected with him in 3 to help him kill Sidney again? Mrs. Carpenter was a secret accomplice out of love to Billy.

  1. We see the new Roman Bridger

The current trilogy could be paralleling the first 3 films of the series. Scream 5 saw a boyfriend behind the killings like Billy Loomis in Scream 1. Scream 6 had relatives of the killer in 5 enacting revenge like Mama Loomis did for Billy in Scream 2. If these parallels continue then we should see the new Roman Bridger. That would mean that an unseen relative of the target would be the new killer. We can assume that the target will be Sam again, so that means that most likely either Samā€™s mother, father, or possibly an unknown sibling could be the killer. Iā€™ll go into each

Sam and Taraā€™s mom

- She resents Sam for revealing the truth to her husband/their father

- She fed Richie information on how to date Sam

o This doesnā€™t explain why Richie would try to kill Tara

- But like Billy in 1996 he could have gone rogue

Sam and Taraā€™s dad

- He resents Sam for ruining his marriage

- Heā€™s disgusted at her for being the daughter of a serial killer

- This would make sense as to why he stopped pursuing Sid because heā€™s not focused on her

- He sees evil in Sam and wants to end it

An unknown sibling

- Sam and Tara have another sister that they donā€™t know of who resents Tara and her mom for ruining their dadā€™s life.

  1. Gale dies

Gale has survived onscreen more times than any other character but it might be time to have her die. She has survived 6 Ghostface attacks; having her survive a 7th might border on ridiculous. Couple this with the franchise moving on to focus on the ā€œCore Fourā€, it could be a good time to move on from legacy characters, especially if Neve Campbell doesnā€™t return. Even if Sid does return, killing Gale in 7 would give the film stakes and a heart wrenching scene absent from 6.

  1. Gale dies in the opening scene

Following up to the post above, Gale could be the opening kill. Scream 5 links to 1 and Scream 6 links to 2, so Scream 7 could further link to 3 by having a legacy character killed in its opening scene similar to Cotton being murdered in Scream 3. That character could be Gale. As aforementioned, sheā€™s on the chopping block and I think Scream 7 will parallel to 3 making her the female Cotton Weary.

  1. Gale has a tape

Gale has been chased by Ghostface six times now, much more than any current character. Itā€™s likely that she knew that at some point her luck would run out and she would end up on the wrong side of the knife. Which already happened in 6 but plot armor kept her alive. I think that weā€™ll see Galeā€™s tape in 7, similar to Randy Meeksā€™s in Scream 3.

  1. Mindy Meeks dies and has a tape

Mindy is another character who has benefited from plot armor who could be at high risk for death. Her having a tape is highly likely if she dies. Mindy having one is much more in alignment with her character than it is for Galeā€™s, if not even on the nose. We could learn a lot from the rest of the 7th film with a tape from Mindy.

  1. This is the last entry

Thereā€™s always room for a sequel as long as Sam and Sidney are still alive, but there is power in knowing when to stop. One of the things that makes me rank the Scream franchise so high, is that there are no bad Scream films. That includes 3! Scream of course is meta and one of the most reoccurring criticism of every major franchise is that they are oversaturated with forced sequels that donā€™t push the story forward. At some point it will get redundant to see Sam constantly attacked by new threats donning the Ghostface mask. As clichĆ© as it may sound, but all good things must come to an end. Not sure if it will happen in 7, but at some point the franchise (as we know it) will have to draw to a close.

At worst, the seeds need to be planted in 7 for the series to conclude in 8. I personally found the Scream tv series to be the good kind of trashy. Thereā€™s room for the franchise to continue in that format but I think the Core 4ā€™s story could, and, should end in 7.

  1. Stu is shown in a flashback

A vision of Billy was shown as a hallucination by Sam during Scream 5. There are now debunked fan theories that Stu lived after the events of 1. Part of this is inspired by fans desire to see fan-favorite Matthew Lillard back on the screen. Sam never knew her father yet saw visions of him, so the door is open for Stu to be seen by a character too. This could possibly be the final entry so maybe the writers will give us some fan-service as a parting gift.

  1. Mama Kirsch makes an appearance

We saw Hank and Nancy Loomis in 1 & 2, respectively. 4 of the 5 members of the Kirsch family have shown up, so maybe we can see its matriarch. I definitely donā€™t want to see her as another killer but it would be nice to see her and hear her thoughts on her familyā€™s murders. I think it could be a nice exploration of grief and regret not seen in a Scream film thus far if they portray Mama Kirsch as repentant for her husband and kids.

  1. A non-white killer

So, it isnā€™t Mrs. Carpenter, itā€™s not Mr. Carpenter and itā€™s not an unknown sibling. The closest that we have gotten to a POC Ghostface is Jason Carvey played by a Guatemalan actor, Tony Revolori. Could this be the film in which we see the first black Ghostface? We have a Latina as our Final Girl, so itā€™s conceivable that we could get a black or a non-white Ghostface. The door is open at this point for it to be anyone if they donā€™t go the familial route.
