My AC wasn't cooling below 85 most of June. They sent an A/C repair guy and he said nothing was wrong. I have a portable A/C and it wasn't enough to make a difference, even putting us all in one room with the door and vents shut, even just the PSTS in that room. We asked for them to provode another while they fixed our unit but they said there simply werent any available. Then the end of Jun 12 of our building's units went out. I moved my kid, pets, and girlfriend into a hotel room for six days until they fixed the HVAC. Magically, the same month, the second night we were in a hotel, they had portable units for the 12 apartments with no AC.
It was the end of the month so I paid my full rent (autopay) and the hotel stays all at once and it has really put my in a financial bind given all the unexpected expenses (also buying a car that month).
My property managers have not responded to calls, voicemail, messages through the online portal, or emails.
I'm planning on sending the hotel stay invoices and deducting that from my rent September 1st. I'd really like some advice. I am planning on moving once we recover from the financial stress of late June to mid July. But that may take months so I need to be careful how I proceed.
