Ideas for science fiction weapons? (That haven't already been used)
Post Body

I've been trying to think of weapon ideas for one of my ocs for a while now. To keep my explanation basic, he's a guy from another planet, (who's also a soldier.) For additional context, the planet is icy cold on its surface, and most of the inhabitants live deep underground.

When I go to Google for answers, all I get are ideas I've seen everywhere else already. Can anyone help?

Comments

You can't google an idea that's never been done. 😅😅😅😅😅😅

That being said.

Use fringe real life weapons.

For example.

Short barrel shotguns with beanbag rounds. When you're fighting in tight quarters inside a thin metal can and against people whose brains you want to keep around something that doesn't atomize everything would be very helpful.

Gas powered flechette guns.

Also think about things that are exceptionally useful compared to their usual Implementations. For example.

Star Wars stun batons are hideously effective to the point they're often under used.

Imagine Padawans being taught to use that stuff before getting a lightsaber.

Force enhanced wielding would make that criminally efficient because you can just deteriorate every encounter Into a really ugly brawl even if the opponent is another force user.

Also just look at modern tactics.

Imagine someone with a brain looking at what you can do with a vanilla EMP grenade.

Don't just make your weapons interesting. Make your applications interesting.
