What do people think is going to happen in the finale? (Bring on your wildest guesses!)
Post Body

I haven't been following a show week to week til the finale in ages, so this is really exciting for me and I'm all in :)

To me, I think there are two big questions that I want answered in the finale:

1) What makes Stevie run away, and what happens after?

I'm starting to agree with all of the people who think that it's linked first to Johnny's health scare and then to David's engagement. I think she's starting to realize how much she's come to rely on the Rose family, and how she could lose them- Johnny to illness or death, David to simply moving on, and probably Moira to the big city (let's be real, she's not staying in Schitt's Creek without Johnny) and Alexis to the Galapagos Islands. This is the first time where it genuinely seems like the Rose family could all go their separate ways, if only one at a time, and that's devastating to Stevie, who not only relies on them very practically in the management of the motel but who has come to think of them as her family. I think that this, combined with all of the pressure of being in Cabaret (which again is also a way for her to impress Moira), gets to her and so she runs off.

This is just spitballing- I have literally NOTHING to base this on, and it's more that it's something I want than something that I think is specifically likely- I wonder whether Stevie's real parents show up at some point. Something like the Season 2 finale, where Johnny and Moira repudiate their old friends in favor of their new ones- maybe Stevie has had a bad encounter with her real family, has been relying on the Roses to be there for her, and now she's seeing that they may end up leaving her too. We know that Stevie's family who we've seen before have been trashbags, so it's not a stretch to assume that her parents and potential siblings could be too. So the dichotomy between purposely rejecting your birth family and feeling rejected by your chosen family could be strong and scary for her. (Again, this is all speculation, just something that I think could be very cool to see.)

But for sure, I think that the thing that made Emily cry at the table read is something about the Roses fully standing behind her, accepting her as one of them (which they have many times, but this time she really believes it), and once again reassuring her that they will always be there for her. I'm kind of hoping that it's NOT some bigger thing, like winning the lottery or being pregnant or being a lesbian or something- I want it to be one of those small, personal freakouts that we all have occasionally, that ends up ending well.

2) Do Alexis and Ted a) stay together and b) go to the Galapagos Islands?

I've been saying that I think the chances of them breaking up are below 50%, and I stand behind that, but I still think it's very possible. What I think is more likely, though, is that they will stay together, but Alexis will NOT go to the Galapagos Islands. I think it would a) work well with Dustin Milligan's more limited episode number, as Alexis can be here with Ted abroad b) work well with their relationship dynamic, as Alexis is finally honest with Ted about the fact that she sees going to the Galapagos Islands as an obligation to prove that she's a good person rather than something that she really wants for their relationship. I think both have been overcompensating a lot this season, and honestly ideally I think they should break up, but I think that the balance of them staying together but Alexis not going would work well too. All I can say is that if they have Alexis go without them discussing how problematic their relationship has been this season, I'll be very disappointed.

What do y'all thinK? :)
