I purchased my Bifrost in late 2011, so I've obviously been getting good use out of it. Not too long ago it stopped working and I finally got around to opening it up. When I turned it on the front LEDs weren't lighting up. I opened it up and noticed that there are some PCB LEDs that light up at the top but it's generally non-functional.
Upon closer inspection, it looks like the diode in the bottom right is burned out. On the back of the PCB, you can see where the solder is scorched. I clipped it out and it's not passing any current in either direction with my multimeter. As far as I can tell it's a Central CZ5352B Zener Diode.
In particular I'm wondering:
Does this seem like a reasonable diagnosis of the issue?
Did it burn out and destroy the traces or is it just some kind of surface corrosion?
Why could it have failed in the first place and is that indicative of a bigger problem?
Thanks!
