I noticed a small charge on a credit card that I don't use very often. It was for a subscription to one of those razor-by-mail services. Upon calling the company, I was told that the account was made in my name and that the starter kit was shipped to an old address of mine (I moved out in 2016). They couldn't tell me anything else. Needless to say, I've cancelled the credit card.
What is going on here? The charge was over a month ago and there isn't any other fraudulent charges on the card. I'm trying to imagine how any scammer would benefit from this, but I'm coming up with nothing. They certainly could have found that old address on an online account that had it stored as a past shipping address or something, but why would they ship something there? And why only a shitty razor and nothing else? Was this just a test to see if the card worked? Any ideas?
Thanks!
