I just got the following email:
Hi Maya, I want to send a book from Amazon to your mother but do not have your full address. Can you please send my way? Thanks, Ran Boytner
The email reportedly came from someone from the Institute for Field Research, which is a reputable group I traveled abroad through a few years ago. However, I am suspicious of it because I do not know this man and he certainly does not know my mother. Along the same lines, the email was addressed with my online name (Maya) instead of with my real name, which the Institute would certainly have on file along with my address.
I'm assuming this is some kind of scam, but I wanted to be certain.
Nope. I don't even know this person. He just works for a company I traveled with.
Plus, it wouldn't be that difficult to get her maiden name...she never changed it.

I told her about the email cause it was weird. She was confused as I was.
