I think I'm involved in some sort ot triangulation scam.
I received a fraudulent charge notification from my bank first thing this am. I immediately called them and cancelled my card, and they are working to refund the pending items which processed.
I received an invoice for one of the items, with an unknown person's name, but my contact information.
The unknown person called me to tell me he received my order. I explained to him about the fraudulent charges, and the purchase was never mine to begin with.
He says he contacted the merchant who stated it was a shipping error, and then contacted PayPal who stated there was no transaction history for his payment.
If this was a triangulation scam, wouldn't have he been charged too? He is not asking me for personal information, just confused it seems, like I am. Could he be in on it too? Any information is helpful. Thank you!
Edit: The receiver did order the same product that was shipped to him, but not from the company the product was shipped from. The receiver has not been charged by PayPal, the company he ordered from, or the company who shipped the product.
Edit: a word, sorry mobile.
