Is anyone familiar with the scam regarding receiving a US soldier's packages from foreign plunder?

Post Body

I made an online "friend" a few months ago. She is a US Army soldier stationed abroad in Syria. Because she's in a dangerous environment, she is not allowed to engage in video chat and their systems prevent the clicking of many web links.

She told me she has no relatives or friends and that she needed to get her luggage out of the country to me for safe keeping. I said yes. I've already checked out the WHOIS for the courier service. It was registered on Jan 2023 and expires Jan 2025. It seems to be owned by a Nigerian.

Obviously I'm not going to pay this ransom money. This is a ridiculous amount for someone I don't really know is the person in question in the photos.

What do you think of this scam and how does it work?
