Long story short, I had been contacted by a government official saying that the way I had to talked to someone from a dating app had put them into a poor mental state and that the family wanted me to pay for the medical bills because she done bad things to herself because I had rejected her. Of course, my initial reaction was how can I help because I make decent money and don't wish anything like that on anyone, however it has been going on for 2 weeks now and they just keep coming up with more and more money that they need even when they tell me "that will cover it and we will let you go from all liabilities."

This morning, I started to get a little bit more suspicious and started to reverse search some of the numbers and names and could not find anything on any of them. The numbers came up as numbers from third party services and the "officer" involved is literally just using a Gmail address. The other thing is the doctor that supposedly did the evaluation and everything on her is located about 15 hours away from where I live and I cannot find the officer on any lookup system. I am not sure what to do because on the phone calls with the father he genuinely sounds upset and it seems real but some things just don't add up and I am not sure what to do. I don't want to file a report and be wrong and just look horrible but if I am not wrong, I want my 5 grand back.

Edit: I should have REALLY realized when I asked for the confirmation of email from the court system that he immediately went to "why don't you trust me, I don't respect that."
