So I met this girl on skout and her profile said 18. I got her number and we texted about meeting but the face photo she sent me was sketchy so I blocked her number. A couple hours later I get a call from her “dad” who is a “sergeant major” in the army. He wanted me to send him money each pay period until I repaid a $200 plane ticket since he shipped his daughter to her grandmas house. He was trying to threaten me with court and jail time. The whole time on the phone I was researching if that was a scam and thank god for reddit because I found similar stories. It didn’t make sense because if he really was a “sergeant major” he would have been asking me for rank and real name, unit I’m with, and leaderships names. They almost got me lol but reddit saved the day. Love you guys.
