Quick Review of the Reboot
Post Body

I know it's been a month since it came out but I just finished binge watching the reboot and all I gotta say is that I LOVED IT. In short I found myself geuninely laughing at a lot of dialogue and I thought it was well executed overall. I liked the new set of characters, and despite Mac and Lexi being super self involved at the start (as that was the point) I still liked them a lot. I also really like Toddman, he was by far a highlight of the show and what I'm about to say might be controversial but I think I like him more than Mr. Belding (so far that is) he was just hysterical. Also I know a lot of people don't like the how show tries to appeal to woke culture but I love it (maybe because I'm a Gen Z kid so being progressive and woke is just the norm) it was able to spread actual messages but also be satirical about it and I enjoyed it. My only complaint really is that they made Zack and Kelly regress as people and it turned me off and it seems most people would agree, ghey just became way more self absorbed (which was surprising for me to ever see Kelly like that as she definitely called Zack out on his BS at times so it was weird for her to be so nochalant about his behavior). Zack definitely did quite a few shitty things but he at least had a conscience (or grew one overtime) but the reboot makes him look like an idiotic douche at times and it felt like they made Kelly nothing more than a trophy wife which sucks to see because her character had real aspirations like wanting to be a doctor. It definitely seems like they based Zack more off how the ZMIT series portrayed him. I hope the show gets renewed because I think they executed reboot really well, it was able to take fresh spin on the show and do the original justice while also being able to delightfully mock the original show's wackiness at times. A lot of reboots of old shows just wind up being cheesy and badly written nostalgia grabs but I actually think this reboot was far from that and was well done. The side characters were also hilarious, like the guys on the football team were a highlight.

Also side note: I know some people also had an issue with Slater's portrayal in the reboot and how his character wound up being somewhat of a loser who gets emotional easily despite being more confident and cool in the original (which was probably a result of the showrunner disliking Slater when watching the original so that definitely played a factor in how his character was portrayed). But I actually liked how they portrayed him here. It was an entertaining take on the guys who peaked in high school and still can't seem to grow out of those days and I liked how he eventually realized it's time to grow up. Despite me liking Slater it definitely realistic, as that is case for many people after high school
