As i can’t seem to find very many answers that form a baseline of how i can best care for this plant in my climate. info: - zone 8b, southwest lower mainland of british columbia -summers can have 30° heat waves and temperatures can drop to around -10C° my questions: - Since slip potting into fresh carnivorous plant soil a couple months ago, I have seen very little new growth. Has been in full sun, near my peppers. Only in the last week have I seen some TINY red looking sword shape leaves come up about 2cm from the soil line, with what looks like one new pitcher slowly forming. A couple of the mature pitchers have noticeable rips in their hoods. All of the traps have caught multiple insects, they filled up about a month ago. Still producing lots of sap on the hoods, but when looking inside the traps i’m not seeing much liquid if any pooling up. Will they kind of just pile up and fall downwards as things digest, or something? . I’ve been pretty much watering every day, sometimes twice a day in the heat. My hose water registers below 30ppm on my TDS meter so that’s what i’ve been using to water. - my questions: - i know they stop producing pitchers in the heat and instead leafy like things, so where are they lol? - how can i provide a good 2-4 month winter dormancy without freezing it? refrigerator? i have access to a heated greenhouse in my school but the power could falter at any time, and it probably will be nice and warm not cold. Put in a bucket and fill with pine needles, wrap up in a blanket lol? - Should i be keeping it in a standing tray of water? How high up the pot? It’s in an orchid pot with an attached saucer on the bottom. Root mass of the original pot is likely about 1-3” from the bottom drainage hole into the saucer. - How fast should she be growing in optimal conditions? - If anybody has the same or similar species, I would really appreciate your tips critiques and advice!!!
