Hello everyone!
While looking over some of the later tier items, I thought it was interesting that we're asked to gather mycelia and bio items even when we're so far beyond biofuel burners and manual resource gathering.
So, with this in mind, I think it might be interesting to propose the idea of organics generation buildings.
In its simplest form, there could be a structure that's able to be set to grow plants or mycelia. Each structure would need a water input to keep the contents watered or humidified and at least one seed material, such as a stack of mycelia or, simply, seeds (new item).
The process would likely be slow as it does require things to grow, but could be boosted with fertilizers. These fertilizers could be things like animal/plant biomass or chemical compounds. Either way, this would allow employees to work more efficiently as they wouldn't need to make trips out to search for these sources.
Alternately, we could have two separate buildings. One could be more of a greenhouse structure with glass roofing for sun exposure while the other is an enclosed building to provide the optimal growing conditions for mycelia.
The greenhouse could be set to grow plants for leaves or any of the edible food items at varying rates while the mycelia structure would simply focus on its one item, but potential produce more as the items could be stacked within the structure.
Depending on how complex we want it to be, there could even be a mechanic where new biomass needs to be introduced after a set number of cycles to "refresh" the soil. Though, that might be covered by the fertilizer. Not actually sure about that one.
Finally, it can be assumed or even explicitly animated to show that there is an automated harvesting process that gathers the final products and outputs them onto a conveyer belt. These could then be transported to storage and used as needed.
What do y'all think? Is it too eco-friendly or does it fit into the Ficsit mission? I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas!
