Maybe because for the vast majority of people, 90,000, or whatever number they end up at, isn't large enough to justify simplifying it. It's really not that complicated. These people aren't stupid, or bad at math, they just don't care as much as you do

Because it's referred to as MW in game, not GW, so regardless of people ability to do math, it's easier to just repeat the number you see on your screen. That's my guess at least
