Estimate I've spotted or talked to 20 or so new homeless in past two weeks. Haven't seen that many new folks in past 6mos. I make it my business to observe, assess, and help or hinder their enjoyment of this wonderful town.
I'm unhoused by choice since March 1, 2021. Have spent time in many communities but have been in Santa Barbara since June 29, 2022. Been trying to understand the problem and try to help as I can while handling street life.
Last time I saw so many new folks arrive in such a short time it was about this time 2021 in Ocean Beach. All hell broke loose within a few months then the OB Troll Patrol with 2k Facebook membership gangstalked pretty much everyone out if not pretty much born and raised there.
I really love it here and doubt anyone has ever seen me or if they have certainly don't panhandle, make a mess, be loud or rude, etc. But just might start running the trouble makers out before they get settled as if they own public space and mess with old timer local homeless (yes ya all have many who were born and raised SB and some on streets here since the 90s)
Maybe SB's version of the OB TROLL Patrol will let me stay if I wear my SirPsyOps costume and LARP them on out of town. We really should handle our own but trying to organize the unhoused ... Cats wear leashes now ... Much easier to work with cats.
