$27 average donation?

Hi, I was running some of the raw data for contributions to Bernie's campaign using data directly from the FEC. I got numbers a bit higher than Bernie's $27 average donation (I don't remember them right now), so it got me thinking about where that number comes from. Is it median, mean, or mode? Is it over his entire campaign or just the last month? Do you guys know anything more specific about the number? I'm trying to do some analysis but it's difficult to move forward with this discrepancy. Thanks in advance.
