Did a little math regarding Sharks success under Doug Wilson.
Post Body

Since the 2003-2004 season, there have been 60 playoff rounds. With the addition of the SC point, some teams are ranked a second time out of 75 (60 rounds playable 15 Stanley Cups available). Here is the breakdown of how each team fared.

With that said, I decided to sit down and figure out just how he/the Sharks stack up in playoff performance under his tenure. I've complied a spreadsheet, and made a graph showing how far each team has made it in the playoffs since DW's first full season as a GM. Each round a team entered they earned one point (Lost in second round, 2 points. Stanley Cup Finals is 4 for each time, with a bonus point that is calculated separately for any cup winners in that time).

If we ignore VGK, being they only have two seasons of data, compared to everyone else's 15, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who the most successful playoff team in that time is, the Pittsburgh Penguins. They have played in exactly 50% of the playoff rounds in the past 15 seasons, winning three cups in that span, and a playoff time Cup win rate of 44%. Second to them however, is our San Jose Sharks at 48.33% of the playoff rounds we've been a part of. We've actually only played one less round than Pittsburgh however - without winning a cup.

Personally, I love just how consistent the Sharks are with the post season. We may not have won a cup YET, but under Doug Wilson's management, we are one of the most successful teams in the league, and almost always have lots of playoff hockey to look forward to every season. There is no doubt in my mind the Sharks can get a cup under him.

Remember, every year 15 playoff teams don't win the cup.
