Some random tidbits about me to help launch our conversation

I'm a professional scientist and my career is incredibly important to me. I love intellectually stimulating conversations, am passionately curious, and love to learn how the world works. I’m a humanist (and atheist), but I do like the ideas of the Satanic Temple and Pastafarianism.

In my spare time, I enjoy several hobbies such as gaming (platforms: PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch), photography (see my post history for a few photos), and playing guitar and bass quite badly.

I'm also a big fan of attending concerts (just attended Sum41’s farewell tour in ATX!!!), visiting museums, and traveling.

I'm a big fan of movies. My favorite films of all time are Finding Nemo (obviously, check my user), The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and Pulp Fiction. Other movies I enjoy include nearly anything in the MCU or Star Wars franchises (but seriously, what was up with The Rise of Skywalker?!?!) and anything made by Pixar, Nolan, Spielberg, Anderson, Hitchcock, Kubrick, or Tarantino.

I have bad taste in television but I really enjoy sci-fi series (currently watching The Expanse and Resident Alien), whatever the latest hot show is, and nature documentaries (Planet Earth 2 is the GOAT).

I read quite a bit, but mostly non-fiction as I prefer to consume fiction in other media (e.g. TV). I usually take my coffee black (like my soul), but I have a soft spot for pumpkin spice lattes and will usually order a cappuccino if I'm in a proper coffee shop.
