I had a patio cover built for my house that I erroneously thought would not need a permit. In submitting for a permit, because it is not "standard," the city is requiring a stamp from an engineer or architect. No calculations needed.
The contractor drew up plans. The whole thing is only 12'x20' and is entirely made from larger lumber -- 6x6 post, 6x8 beams, 6x6 rafters. I am confident that I could park a car on it, and it would be fine. The city, however, requires proof.
I was hoping someone could look at my plans, or even the standing structure, and stamp it without charging a fortune. Please contact me if you are interested.
**** Update ****
Plans are stamped. Thank you to the few of you that were helpful.
