Good afternoon all

Try to do these once every few months, or as the need arises

Things are going pretty well in the sub. Has been fairly busy as far as activity in the theaters, even on some weekdays. Of course, it's always up to chance. But those chances are better when people are actually willing to go to the theater, and this sub has played a role in encouraging at least a few to do so

NEW RULE

There have been more than a few instances where the OP of a thread, usually a lady or couple, will post that they're planning something, and while they get a number of responses in the thread, they'll get an overwhelming amount of DMs. Which can prove to be daunting, and even discouraging, to going at all. After all, who wants to go to a theater for fun, but sort through 70, 80, or 100 DMs before that? That's a fucking part time job 🤣

So. New rule to be instituted here soon, OP of a thread will have the option, likely using a flair, to have "DMs OPEN" or "DMs CLOSED"

DMs OPEN

Just what it sounds like. They're open to anyone contacting them after posting. This rule is geared more for the ladies/couples who post, but anyone can use it. If you reply, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND against sending unsolicited nudes, or starting off the convo super graphic if that wasn't in the OPs post. Engage with them like a normal person, maybe? But, at the end of the day, you do you, and you'll get the results of your efforts and approach

DMs CLOSED

Also self-explanatory. This rule will only be instituted after the flair is made, so if you expand the post, you should be able to see it. And choosing to message them AFTER will be a blatant disregard of their request, which will get you a 14 day ban. To the OP, this isn't an automatic script or something we can do on our end. You will have to submit screenshot proof of the offenders. But, anyone who messages after you post and until you delete your post will get banned. And, once you no longer have use for the post, it'll be your responsibility to delete it so you don't get straggling DMs

EXCEPTIONS

Unless OP specifically says "I/we do not want DMs at all" redditors are welcome to ask if they can DM. Some of you may get yes. Some of you may be no. Some may get no reply. This will at least give the OP the option of sorting through individual profiles rather than a sea of DMs and unsolicited nudes. Also, if you identify yourself as a lady/couple on a post that isn't yours, can't do nothing to help you LOL. That's why the time frame for banning offenders is so specific

I'm not instituting this on a power trip, or to become the DM police. I'm the head mod of two subs, and even WITH help, I still do a lion's share of the work in both. I don't need more on my plate

But, I'm trying to make this sub as welcoming and user-friendly to everyone who comes here, especially the ladies and couples who draw the most engagement. Some people just want to post to advertise, show up, have fun if they choose, then leave afterwards. And not have to turn off their notifications to do so die to getting their DMs blown up

This came put longer than intended. But, wanted to make the rules and reasoning behind it as clear as possible. Thread is open for feedback, thoughts, etc. Just keep any criticism you have, if any, constructive
