Been moderating this sub pretty much singlehandedly for the past couple of months, and was doing 80% of the work before then after being brought on-board. Woke up this morning with back pain from carrying the sub and figured it's finally time 😂
The sub founder, sir_hemingfordgrey, deleted their account this past weekend (hope they're doing okay, wherever they are) and they were the only one occasionally also doing moderating work. So now am in the process of adding more to the sub
I already have one person I think would be a perfect fit that I've already reached out to. So am lookong ideally for one more, so I don't have to set up an auto-mod bot
Requirements PLEASE READ BEFORE REACHING OUT
MUST BE AN ACTIVE, CONTRIBUTING, POSTING MEMBER
I've been a mod for about six months, and a member for about nine. So I'm fairly familiar with the frequent posters and contributors. I need to know at least a bit about you
MUST NOT HAVE CROSSED MY RADAR AS A MOD IN A NEGATIVE WAY
If you talk about women, couples, transwomen, or anyone else in a creepy, disrespectful way, I don't want you as a mod on here. Same for throwing around slurs, asking women/couples who post to readjust their schedules to meet you, discriminating against people because of their orientation/what they look for at the theaters (that's legal of course), being verbally abusive towards other sub members, etc. I want a mod that's impartial and fair
MUST BE ANONYMOUS
This was a tough one, because there are a few people who've posted here who would make solid mods. But, being a mod, you often have to ban people for valid reasons. And their reaction ranges from being cool with it, to being verbally abusive, or even threatening action against you. 99% of the time it's just talk and nothing to worry about. But I don't want someone to get banned from here, know what you look like, then show up at the theater next time you post because they recognize you
Traits I'm looking for from a mod
Being respectful to everyone, even when they aren't to you (there are times that are an exception, but they're rare)
Being responsive to modmail, especially if it's a ban appeal
Being willing to abide by the same rules in the sub everyone else does
BEING ACTIVE (PLEASE🙏)
Being willing to help out others, especially newbies, with info navigating the theaters/bookstores
That's it. Send me a message through the old-fashioned message system on hrere with the envelope icon if you think you fit the bill. Will be making the decision in the next few weeks, and any that apply will know my answer within that time frame
