The old library in EV is a shelter now- a safe space I think, for women. There's a gate on the side of the building that people broke into just over a year ago (and blatantly through the boarded-up windows), and a few people started breaking into it again. I heard literal construction noise coming from underneath a tarp, and now there are 12-15 people crawling in and out of the hole in the gate. I've felt torn because we shouldn't have people without a place to sleep when there are so many empty spaces, like this. HOWEVER, my home was broken into in this exact way already, so I'm concerned that it could happen again.
The police are aware and do nothing. Get it Done, report it to the police, and sweep around it. Clean & Safe does nothing. I have no idea what I should do, or the best way of going about it- it's not a NIMBY thing, it's an I don't want to get robbed again thing. Nobody else seems bothered by it, though everyone seems aware. This morning Get it Done was literally sweeping around it and were acting like if they didn't go near it, it didn't exist. The gate is now propped open with a car jack, so it's not like it's not obvious.
Edit- the hope is to find anyone else who has the same issue of having your break-in reports heard, and responded to, and handled vs being completely ignored by all resources that I have found so far.
