Hi,

I'd like to hang out with you! You've been listening to my audios, maybe we've exchanged some comments or messages. How about spending a little time together live? Say, watching me stream myself playing some games and chit-chattin' with you?

How exactly this is going to play out, I don't know. The specifics are all still more or less up in the air. For now, I've set up a chat room for us to use in Discord. It's free and you don't have to download it. You can access it from a web browser.

How it's going to work:

Essentially, you click my invite link and get to watch me stream, hear me talk, and chat to me in text.

More detailed: imagine a group video-call between me and (all of) you, but everyone's microphones and cameras are off so only my stream is being broadcast and only I'm heard.

This server I set up includes one "voice channel", which is really a voice and video channel, which is where we're going to be in this one-sided quasi call and instead of my webcam, you'll see my stream. It also has one "text channel", which you can use to chat to me. My invite link is going to take you into this text channel. Works like any chatroom. Discord separates chat from calls for some arcane reason but whatever. I'm putting the chat on screen within the stream so you don't have to go there to read what others are saying - you only need to click yourself into the text channel to actually type to me (and you'll keep hearing me, during this). Sounds more complicated than it is, I think. Voice channel to watch my stream, text channel to type at me. Simple. :)

If you're worried about sittin' there with messy hair and ketchup on your shirt: No worries. You won't be able to accidentally click something to turn your camera or microphone on. I've disabled this functionality in the channel for anyone but me. For this first evening anyway. We'll see what happens, how many of you show up, etc. We can talk about, for example, opening the call up so those of you who want to talk on mic can do that. Could be fun, but if we're changing something as big as this, it'll be changed between events, not during an event. The announcement of the new event is going to go over the ground rules again. I don't want any of you to stumble into something you're not prepared for.

... except for the MADNESS that's no doubt going to break loose! :D I kid, but I do want to make clear the stream is very likely going to include discussions of sexual topics - I mean, it's what we got to know each other over, eh? We're not going from that to just talking about some game. There's not going to be any live sex but if someone wants my opinion on... dildos? We'll talk about dildos.
