Note Newcomer Roll Call
Post Body

Why'd you decide to get the Note 8? What did you come from?

I'm coming from an iPhone 7 , and want to make the switch to android as every iPhone feels exactly the same and it's gotten boring. I really had to ask myself why the hell I upgraded to the 7 as it "feels" the same with iOS pretty much acting the same with very few new features.

So why the Note 8 specifically? I realized how much I'd actually use the S-Pen. I used to always think that it's mainly for artists and that it wouldn't be all that useful since I never used (because I never had) a feature like it.

Then I realized how much I'm drawing free body diagrams, circuit diagrams, and new component/assembly ideas with pen and paper. As an engineer working on things in the early design phase, I'm literally spending hours a day sketching potential new designs to get an idea if they have any merit. Not to mention, many of those ideas don't come in the office where a pen and paper is readily available. Also, I'd always write to-do lists down on paper as it's always right in front of me to remind me there's something else (I'd never remember to actually unlock a phone, and open up an app to check a list) and the act of actually writing it (instead of typing) helps it stay fresher in my memory.

So, lets hear it. Why'd you decide to make the jump? What were you using before?

If you're on the fence and asking yourself is the S-Pen worth it, ask yourself how much do you find yourself writing something down or looking for pen and paper with nothing to be found. Don't just assume that since you're not an artist, and are used to NOT having this ability on a phone, that you can't benefit from it greatly. I used to think that way, and now I've finally realized how much of a game changer it is from both a convenience and workflow standpoint (for me, personally).
