Guys, I have a server at work with Windows and RDP activated, and I would like to know what is the most efficient and fastest way to access it?
I tried using the Microsoft RDP app, but found it a bit limited. Firstly, it is not that fast, and there is a little delay, and secondly, it is full screen and there is no way to change this, in addition to having very few customization options.
I tried to use Parsec, but the problem is that this server is connected to a 720p monitor, and when I access it via Parsec, it doesn't let me change to my monitor's resolution (Full HD Ultra Wide), and when I access it via Parsec , everything I do keeps appearing on the server monitor, which ends up getting in the way, I would like my access to be viewed only on my DeX monitor, and not on the monitor of the PC I'm accessing (in Microsoft RDP, the server monitor continues off while I use it normally via my DeX).
I tried using Chrome Remote Desktop, but I had the same problem as described above in Parsec.
On this server it runs Apache Guacamole too, but when I try to access it in the browser (I tried on Chrome, Edge, Samsung Internet and Kiwi) the mouse doesn't work properly, it stays stuck in the same place, no matter where I click, the only way to move the mouse and clicking and dragging,
What programs do you use for this type of access? What is the best solution?
I've tried a lot of these because it's a necessity for my job as well.
You might be able to try steam link. The issue I've had for most of these remote access softwares is they do not let you change settings within windows, settings seems to just be fucked and you can't press any buttons or drop downs or anything. Your also going to have to at least have a monitor on the PC, and it will show what you are doing on it, I don't really see a way around that.
I highly recommend using Moonlight/Sunshine. It requires some slight setup and port forwarding in the router settings to use not on a LAN, but it's the best I've used so far because it actually let's me have full control over setting in windows, I can change resolution, sound, wifi etc. It still requires having a monitor connected and it shows everything you do on there.
You could always connect a very small 1080P monitor to it and tuck it away somewhere. Turn the main screen off. It's what I do for my home PC I remote to.
