I need a pretty small job done in my house in WVC. I have an odd setup where 2 switches have to be in specific positions for my outside lights to turn on. Unfortunately I don't know enough about house electrical to solve this my self. Willing to pay and or provide beer or food for your time/assistance.
Here's the situation I have 2 3 way switch's that control my 4 outdoor lights. The inside switch needs to be in the up position and the garage switch needs to be in the down position for the lights to turn on. All other positions, the lights will not turn on at all. I actually have another light that does this too but it doesn't bother me as much.
Normally with a 3 way setup you would run a 14/3 wire but everything in the gang boxes are 14/2. So I am pretty sure there was a shortcut taken or a old technique I don't know about. Though I am thinking it's the former. Also nothing is labeled or marked.
Ultimately I want to get rid of the garage switch since I don't need it and replace the inside one with a smart switch.
Edit: added a bit more info.
