I want to start off by saying that I really enjoy parts of this game. But the parts I like is extremely overshadows by it many flaws.
My first problem with this game is lack of a map. While its not that important it would be a nice inclusion to give us one so we don't have to run around for 10 minutes trying to remember where that mage door we found a while ago is. Hell you can even pull a Hollow Knight and have the map for a zone hidden in the zone so we have to explore the zone before be able to get one.
The second issue I have with this game is the Mage Hunts. They're a cool concept on paper but they tend to lead to a lot of gank fight and a lot of unearned deaths. When I'm hunting a Mage and I enter a zone to fight him and he is there His minions any other enemy that normally spawns there it leads to problems and getting hit by attacks that you can't see coming. And go forbid there is another mage there as well. And then when you get into their boss fight proper they sometimes don't even have proper boss rooms they just exist in the middle of a zone. The normal enemies join the boss fight and make it even harder for no reason. The number of times I couldn't talk to a mage post killing them because a normal enemy killed me because i just got out of the animation of eating their heart and couldn't control my character. I feel like if they just gave the Mages their own boss room and the Hunt part was you finding tracks and fighting their minions as you slowly find the path to them would be a much better way to do this.
Then there's the Mages themselves. Some are pretty easy to kill and others are harder then the final boss of the game. Some of them can kill you within 2 seconds of entering the boss room. most of these fights feel like the player has no control and is just a toy for the Mage to ping pong around for run until you get lucky and kill them. It suffers from the bosses being to spammy and being able to chain so many attacks together in a way that gives the player little to no time to react. I also only feel this problem with the mages. The non-Mage boss fights don't have this issue. The only one who even comes closes is the guy with the staff and the lantern who summons ghosts to curse you, and even then he's not really that bad. I feel like if they slowed down the Mages and gave them a cool down on some skills it would be nice.
That said even though I have these issues with this game its still not that bad. It just really takes away from the game when I die to a Mage because he hit me once and I get juggled. Over all this game is fun but nowhere near as good as its predecessor, but I can see the potential there the Devs just need to fix some of its glaring problems.
Overall I love this game. If i made any mistakes or am just missing something that would get rid of one of my complaints please let me know, just don't be toxic and tell me to "Get Gud" or something like that.
