Hello,
I wanted some feedback and advice. I will be applying for a supervisor position that is going to be opening soon. My current supervisor recommended me for the position. My current position (coordinator) I have been in for 6 years and with the organization for 17 years. I am a SME in my department and am the go to when it comes to questions and answers regarding the job.
Leadership goes from Coordinator โ> Supervisor โ> Manager. During my time as a coordinator I was taking on supervisor responsibilities so I have some knowledge in that area.
I have done my research and Iโm aware what the salary min/mean/max are for the supervisor position. Currently as a coordinator my base salary is $28.75 $1.25 shift difference. In total I make $30.00 an hour because my schedule is set. The supervisor salary starts at 33.50 minimum, midpoint is 36.50 and max is 42.50. I would like advice on how to negotiate and ask for 36.50 per hour should I interview and secure the position.
The manager who I report to micromanages.. a lot. I have had some dealings with her and I believe I can handle that but it can be frustrating at times and I am/was shielded by a lot of that from my current supervisor. I just donโt feel taking 33.50 an hour to advance my position to put up with her and have direct reports is worth 33.50 per hour and I donโt want to just accept what I am offered. Again not trying to sound ungrateful.
Could I get some advice on how to navigate salary negotiations. All offers are handled through HR and are written and submitted via workday.
Thank you for your time.
