Contractor rate to Full-Time – salary difference
Post Body

I recently transitioned from being a contractor earning around $50/hour (approximately $104K annually) to a full-time employee with a salary of $100K and a potential annual bonus. As a contractor, I was receiving almost the same benefits that salaried employees get, which makes the $4,000 drop in salary surprising to me.

I’ve heard that contractor rates are often higher due to the lack of job security, but I’m curious about others’ experiences. Does this sound right? Is it common to see a lower salary when moving to a full-time role? How have you navigated similar transitions?

Thanks for any insights!
